Stationary energy storage
Stationary energy storages are systems which are used for gathering and storing electricity for later use. Its main feature is energy storing when it is the cheapest (ex. at night or deriving from surpluses produced by OZE) and used when it is the most expensive or in moments of increased demand, or even in case of power electronics systems failure.
Stationary energy storages can be constructed in different configurations with the use of different technologies, depending on the requirements of specific applications. Nowadays, the majority is based on lithium-ion cells or fuel cells operating using hydrogen or ammonium.
Stationary energy storages have plenty advantages. They may aid in equalling the demand and power supply in the network by lowering operation costs and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. They may also serve as emergency powering systems, which increases the reliability of energy supply and lowers the risk of downtime.
